RAJPUR: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay, on behalf of the Kashag, offered a long life prayer (Tib: Tenshug) to Sakya Gongma Rinpoche at Dolma Phodrang in Rajpur today. Sikyong was accompanied by Health Kalon Mr Choekyong Wangchuk.
The brief ceremony was held to express the Tibetan people’s profound gratitude to the spiritual leader for his lifelong efforts to revive and strengthen the Tibetan Buddhist culture in exile. Sakya Gongma Rinpoche has recently relinquished his role as the Sakya Trizin to Vajra Ratna Rinpoche.
Sikyong also requested Sakya Gongma Rinpoche to continue conferring spiritual guidance to devotees and expressed the Kashag’s fervent prayers for his good health.
Sakya Gongma Rinpoche assured the Sikyong and Kashag of his excellent health and consented to continue steering the faithful on the path of Buddha’s teaching.
Rinpoche further lauded the Kashag for the successful Kalachakra teachings that the Central Tibetan Administration has organised at Bodh Gaya in January this year. Rinpoche candidly expressed that the 34th Kalachakra was one of the most well organised events in recent times, and congratulated Sikyong and the entire Tibetan administration.
Sikyong attributed the success of the Kalachakra to the concerted effort and coordination of the staff and officials of CTA.
Following the ceremony, Sikyong went to Sakya monastery to attend the teachings being conducted by Vajra Ratna Rinpoche, the 42nd Sakya Trizin.
During the teachings, Sikyong offered the Kashag’s greetings to the new Sakya Trizin and sought his blessings for the success of the Tibetan movement and welfare of the Tibetan people.
