Mundgod: The Tibetan community in Mundgod observed the 16th Anniversary of the Conferment of the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 17 October 2023.
On 17 October 2007, the Congressional Gold Medal, the U.S. highest civilian award, was bestowed on His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his tireless promotion of world peace and human rights.
Abbot of Gaden Shartse Jangchup Sangye, Tibetan Parliamentarian Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten, Settlement Officer Lhakpa Dolma, representatives of the Local Tibetan Assembly, civil society groups, NGOs, and monks and laity made up around 200 attendees.
The ceremony was facilitated by Gaden Shartse Thoesam Norling.
