Dharamshala , His Holiness the Dalai Lama will reportedly be attending a conference on peace some time in the next four months in the northeastern state of Manipur, India.
Speaker of Manipur Assembly, Yunnan Khemchand, while addressing reporters in Imphal on Monday said that he recently met with the Tibetan leader at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh, while attending the conference nearby in Shimla on “Tribals of India and Social issues”, organized by the Himachal Pradesh University.
“The tentative date for the (peace) conference will be finalized soon according to the convenience of the spiritual leader and others,” said Khemchand adding that the core motivation of the conference was to bring peace in the northeastern states.
If the 82-year-old Tibetan leader visits Imphal this year as suggested by the Indian politician, it would be his second visit to northeast India this year. The Nobel laureate visited Assam and Arunachal Pradesh back in April.
Currently, the Dalai Lama is scheduled for a 15 – day visit to Europe from Sept. 10 beginning from Northern Ireland where he will give a talk on ‘Compassion in Action’ organized by Children in Crossfire.
His Holiness will give a public talk on Global Ethics – Shared Values in the afternoon organized by Tibet House Frankfurt to be held at Jahrhunderthalle, Frankfurt and also give a talk at the City of Florence at the Mandela Forum in Tuscany, Italy.
His Holiness will conclude his schedule in Europe with a 2-day teaching on Kamalashila’s The Middling Stages of Meditation (gomrim barpa)and Tsongkhapa’s Concise Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (lamrim dudon) at Skonto Hall, in Latvian capital Riga.
