His Holiness the Dalai Lama tfinished his four-day teaching on Chandrakirti’s Entering the Middle Way (Tib: uma jukpa) at Thekchen Choeling Tsuglagkhang, the main Tibetan temple,Mcleodganj in Dharamshala.
The teaching is organised at the request of a group of devotees from Taiwan. Over 5000 devotees from 70 different countries including local Tibetans from Dharamshala attended the teachings.
Desire for happiness is universal to all sentient beings. However, unlike animals, we humans have an inborn faculty of thought. Therefore, we should use this faculty to develop happiness through love and compassion,” His Holiness said.
The planned trip to Japan next month for the exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has been cancelled on the advice of his doctors, the Liaison Office of H.H. the Dalai Lama, Tokyo said on Wednesday.
The Tokyo office told Japanese media that the Dalai Lama was planning to visit Tokyo, Fukuoka and Kumamoto prefectures between Nov. 10 and 21 and attend a religious ceremony in connection with a deadly earthquake that hit the Kumamoto region last year.
The Dalai Lama’s primary doctor reportedly advised the 82 year old to refrain from long distance travel and to take rest. The Tibetan leader arrived back to Dharamshala, just over a week ago after a 20 day trip to Europe on Sept. 27. On arrival at the Gaggal Airport, he told reporters that his trip was “tiresome”.
Similarly in August, the octogenarian Tibetan leader’s trip to Botswana was cancelled due to exhaustion and his doctors advised him to take rest. The Dalai Lama later said that the trip to Botswana will be rescheduled; however there is no official word if the trip to Japan will be rescheduled by his office.
