DHARAMSHALA, April 16: The foremost Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama was conferred the Scheherazade Foundation Gold Medal for his humanitarian efforts in advocating and promoting world peace and religious harmony on Friday.
The Scheherazade Foundational Gold Medal Award was handed over to Representative Sonam Tsering at the Office of Tibet in London on April 14 by Mr. Timur Shah. On receiving the award, Rep. Sonam Tsering took to his social media handle and said he will pass on the award to His Holiness’ private office in India.
The Scheherazade Foundation honours individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life with the vision, determination, and selflessness to change the world by empowering women and building bridges between cultures through stories. Nominees are selected by a panel hailing from six continents and the awards are presented through a low-key private presentation.
Former recipient of the Scheherazade Foundation Gold Medal Awards include other prominent figures such as Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, Paulo Coelho among others.
