The Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, is organising an annual Maha Guru Bumtsok prayer service for the good health and long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Tsuglagkhang, the main Tibetan temple at Mcleod Ganj from 19 – 23 June.
The prayer service which began from 06:30 AM this morning was attended by the Chief Justice Commissioner Kargyu Dhondup, Justice Commissioner Ngawang Rabgyal, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, members of the Kashag, Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, members of the Tibetan Parliament, Chief Election Commissioner Sonam Choephel Shosur and the Auditor General Arya Pema Dadul.
The annual Maha Guru prayer offering is a Tibetan Buddhist ritual held every year in the fifth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. The prayer service involves several days of prayers and distribution of food and edibles on a large scale to devotees. Local Tibetans and non-Tibetan devotees attend this ritual offering that lasts for several days with great devotion.
The prayer service will conclude on 23 June.
