CTA jointly with Chief Representative Office, Ladakh hosts gala dinner to celebrate UT status to Ladakh

Ladakh is a region administered by India, located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent, and a part of the larger region of Kashmir, which has been the subject of dispute between India, Pakistan, and China since 1947.It extends from the Siachen Glacier in the Karakoram range to the main Great Himalayas to the south. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in India and its culture and history are closely related to that of Tibet. Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and culture.

The Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala and Chief Representative Office, Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in Leh, Ladakh jointly organised a dinner banquet to celebrate new Union Territory status granted to Ladakh.

Dinner was attended by the Chief Guest Gyal P. Wangyal, Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Guest of Honor Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP, GOI & Ven Yuthok Karma Gelek, Minister of Religion & Culture, Central Tibetan Administration.

Chief Representative Officer, Sonamling Tibetan Settlement gave the welcome address. Kalon of Religion & Culture, Ven Yuthok Karma Gelek stated he would like to congratulate all Ladakhis to have their long-cherished dream fulfilled and offered congratulatory scarf to all dignitaries.

Mr Gyal P Wangyal thanked the Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala and Chief Representative Office, Sonamling Tibetan Settlement for organizing the event and dinner. He also mentioned Ladakhis tireless effort for seven-decade has come to an end and he believes within 10 years, Tibet will be free and extended their support for Tibet cause.

Mr. Thupten Chewang, Former Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Mr Lagruk Chering Dorjee, Former Member of Legislative Council, J&K,  Mr. Ashraf Barcha, President of Anjuman Imamia, Ven Shedup Jampa, President of Ladakh Gonpa Association, Mr. P.T. Kunzang, President of Ladakh Buddhist Association, Dr Kayum, President of Mon-ul-Islam, Executive Councilors & Councilors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development, Department heads with total of 100 guests were in attendance.
